Alison O'Neil is a farmer turned walking guide offering farming holidays with a difference. Keen walkers have the chance to get away and enjoy a real hands on farming experience at Shacklabank, a small working farm located outside Sedbergh.

With the chance to try your skills at lambing, collecting the eggs for breakfast or sheep gathering you'll be right at the heart of country life.

Alison often takes to the hills in summer barefoot with her other choice of footwear being a pair of brasher Supalite GTX as seen in the photo below.

"We have all gone walking for the holidays and will be back in the office on Monday 5th January!"

Ron Rutland, owner of Summitreks outdoor stores in Coniston, Hawkshead and Ambleside recently climbed the summit of Manaslu, the eighth highest mountain in the world.

Ron has over 40 years of climbing experience and along with a team of dedicated fellow adventurers they took up the challenge scaling over 8,000 metres in height. They reached the summit on October 4th where they were met by fantastic scenery.

Bowfell and Angle Tarn in Great Langdale

Langdale is a beautiful part of the Lake District and certainly a favourite of brasher's Product Manager, Philippe Galland.

He can not only practice rock climbing with his wife and friends, but also enjoy scrambling or walking.
His choice in September was one of the classic walks to do.
Starting at the Old Dungeon Gill and taking you to Bow Fell via "The Band." The effort is worth the view in good weather.

A nice gentle gentle slope with amazing scenery will take you down Ore Gap. At this point the landscape changes again. Finally, after a rapid descent there is a chance to appreciate one of the most pretty lakes-Angle tarn-giving another dimension to this walk.
The footpath turns into a steep downhill back to the starting point.

The walk is around 8 miles with a fair amount of ascent close to 3000ft. It will take you around 6 to 7 hours to complete.

One of the longest running walking festivals which turns 20 this year, is organised by The Ramblers Association. It is free to everyone and you don't have to be a member to take part.

This is a great way to get out into the countryside and enjoy some fresh air and exercise after being indoors watching Christmas tv and stuffing ourselves full of turkey over the festive period.

There are 700 walks on offer ranging from 4 to 14miles which caters for all levels of walkers.
